Exploring the Historic Cyclone Mercantile Building

Join the Ellinwood Historical Society for an evening exploring the history of one of Ellinwood’s most unique historic buildings — the Cyclone Mercantile Building, now home to local business Kansas Earth and Sky Candle Co.

Throughout its history, the building has been home to a variety of businesses and has played a role in the daily life of the Ellinwood community. During this special gathering, guests explore the stories of the people, businesses, and events that shaped the building over the years, including the history surrounding a notable murder that took place within its walls.

Guests also have the opportunity to tour the building’s basement, a space connected to the history of Ellinwood’s Underground Tunnels and the hidden stories that continue beneath our community.
